Matt served in the US Air Force for over seven years and has the background of both law enforcement and military operations as a Security Forces Officer. He held positions such as a Officer in Charge of Training and Resources, Flight Commander, Weapons and Tactics Officer, Wing Anti-Terrorism Officer, Operations Officer as well as Chief of Security Forces for a deployed location.

Matt has planned and led numerous security details and operations for key military personnel including 20 General Officers, the Secretary of the Air Force and the Chief of Staff of the Air Force. In addition, Matt has worked with the Secret Service in coordinating and providing security for the Vice President of the United States and other dignitaries.

He has established, trained, and equipped two Emergency Services Teams (Air Force versions of SWAT teams) as well as built a Combat Readiness Force program to train and prepare deploying airmen for combat operations while attached to US Army units or those performing outside the wire operations. Matt spearheaded efforts after September 11, 2001, defend and secure personnel and assets at NORAD, US Space Command and surrounding areas while also deploying four squads of combat ready troops in support of the US response to the attacks. While deployed in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM to the Salah Al-Din province Matt was tasked to train, develop intelligence, and combat insurgents with Iraqi Police in and around the major cities in the Salah Al-Din province, one of only two USAF units tasked with those operations in all of Iraq. During this time he completed in over 120 combat missions where he worked with local units to ensure the safety and security of the local populace as well as Coalition Forces. For his efforts and effects on the battlefield Matt was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.

Matt has served in numerous operations across sister services as well as the RAF Regiments and local law enforcement units. He has completed many small team tactics courses such as Colorado Springs, Douglas County and El Paso County SWAT schools, Hand-to-Hand combatives courses, Aircraft Interdiction courses, is a certified NRA instructor and has completed many other courses. Currently Matt is a Police Patrol Officer for the city of Carrollton and is a TCOLE certified firearms and patrol rifle instructor. In addition to working on GAPMC courses Matt is developing courses of fire for law enforcement agencies meeting TCOLE requirements for continuing education. Additionally, Matt continues to conduct training for various security organizations, civilians, as well as law enforcement professionals.
